Mirror Trace - test of eye- hand- coordination
Course of the test
The proband has the task to follow the outlines of a given figure (e.g. a star) with a pen similar to a ball pen. However, the figure can only be viewed in a mirror. The pen contains a photo-sensitive element for the detection of whether the pen is situated on the black figure or on the white background. Apart from the special training "mirror tracing" the device can of course also be used for conventional tracing tasks.
The user can by means of conventional drawing programms (not included in the delivery set) produce any pattern he likes.
Mirror Trace is available in 2 versions: with a connection to a PC and as "offline device".
Mirror trace PC
The device consists of the following components:
- Recording unit with mirror
- photo-sensitive pen
- Interface to the PC (ISA or PCI)
- Software for PC from Windows 95 on.
The experiment is administered by means of the PC. After optionally entering the experiment data (experiment number, test number and notes for the experiment planning) and patient data (patient number, surname, name, date of birth and gender), the test is started by the test leader. He asks the proband to start and also starts the software. The patient solves the task under observation of the test leader. After he has finished, the test leader stops the software again.
The overall duration of the experiment is recorded and saved as well as the number and duration of the "off phases" when the photo-sensitive was situated out of the given figure.
After choosing data through filters for patient number, experiment number, test number and notes, the recorded data appear in a table. Average values are calculated. For data export for further statistic analysis, the data can be transformed into an orthogonal ASCII file.
